The HSC has to announce the passing of OM Dietrich, DL9CW (758), who died last weekend at the age of 69.
Again this year HSC, along with the AGCW, took the opportunity to promote the case of telegraphy at the HAMRADIO convention in Southern Germany. Special thanks go to the chair of AGCW for paying all pertinent fees and Karlheinz, DK8KK, who had taken it upon himself to organize the booth and act as the AGCW point of contact towards the Hamradio management.
Turned out it has been well worth the effort: the AGCW/HSC appeared to be a central meeting point of many keen CW friends both from Germany and abroad. Throughout the convention, you could see small groups of amateurs intensely engaged in discussing topical subjects. In front of the LCD screen you could often see clusters of people eagerly following the lines of text which were being decoded simultaneously as DAØHSC was being operated remotely through the Maestro flexradio 6800 interface. Many hamradio operators took it turns to man the operating station, thus helping out the main operators, Frank, DL2CC, Karl, DJ5IL and Tof, DJ6ZM. 700 watts and a 4-element yagi tribander, located near the city of Ulm were putting out a strong signal easy to be picked up in EU and DX. Norbert's, DJ3TU's, collection of keys triggered many expert talks about pros and cons of vibroplex bugs, straight keys and sideswipers.
Above all, it was most enjoyable to be able to talk to well-known CW operators from all over the world in person, such as OZ1LO, LB2TB, OZ1JHM, F6GWL, PAØINA, I8QFK, OZ8X, 5B4AGN, G3AB, just to mention a few. Well-known DXers such as DJ6SI and DK9PY were available for questions. It goes without saying that the HSC "stalwarts" were again available to represent HSC and answer questions surrounding aspects of CW and especially QRQ. These included DL6LBI, DL8LBK, DJ3TU, HB9BJL, DJ5IL, DJ6ZM, DL2CC, DL7NJ, DK4LX among others. All in all, HSC can be quite satisfied with another successful promotional activity. The HSC mournes the passing of OM Fritz, DK7MC (833) who became a silent key April 2019.
The HSC again is present at the HAM-RADIO fair Friedrichshafen, held from June 21st to 23rd 2019. You'll find us in exhibiton hall A1 at booth 499. |

This applies only to our HSC email address shown at the top of the Legal Notice section. Please feel free to directly contact the person you would like to get in touch with. In most cases, the HSC secretary would be the appropriate person.
To clarify proper procedures and avoid misunderstandings, I'd like to point out that all statements of sponsorship have to go to the potential candidate for HSC. They can be in the form of a QSL or an email and must contain all relevant and required details of QSO the sponsorship is based on. I do not need any advanced / heads up information. All I am interested in is a complete application package on the part of the prospective HSC member.
Complete means: five fully backed up sponsor documents, award fee as a bill, filled in and signed application form (can be downloaded from the website). A CC copy of any email sponsorship to me is o.k. but not required. It would be nice to have an automated system like LotW to handle everything through mouse clicks, however, as of yet, I'm afraid, we have go with the traditional, time-tested procedures.Jump to the News 2018
